This colossal project has been in the pipeline for a long time now, so it is very exciting to hear that La Samaritaine - which first opened in 1870 - will be opening in Spring, just in time for the 150th anniversary of the original department store! This new incarnation will be much more than just a department store though, offering not just shopping (with over 600 brands) but a hotel, a spa, and a 5th floor devoted entirely to food. Not to mention the stunning Art Deco architecture.

Easter Sunday, April 12

If you're celebrating the Easter weekend in Paris, this list of open museums and monuments might help your planning. Or how about an Easter Egg hunt? Head to the lovely Parc des Buttes Chaumont on Wednesday 17th April for an enormous hunt for chocolate eggs by one of the oldest chocolate shops in Paris, A la Mere de la Famille, from 3.30pm. There'll be lots of activities, games and surprises for the whole family to enjoy!

European Craft Days, 3-13 April

Discover the artisans and craftsmen of the city during European Craft Days, when 200 studios and ateliers open their doors to the public. It's recommended that you register for your chosen activity in advance, as many workshops are small and limit the number of participants, but you will have the opportunity to visit some incredible craftspeople in Paris - including at the Louvre or Opera Garnier!
