Where to tipple in the 19th arrondissement of Paris

Top tips from from the Wine Lady herself. Tanisha Townsend of 'Gril Meets Glass' shares her favorite bars in the 19th!

Our special guest for this month is Tanisha Townsend, better known as 'GirlMeetsGlass'! Tanisha is a local Wine Educator, Wine Tour Hostess and has a Podcast Wine School Dropout. As a Top Wine Influencer in France, and author of 75 in the 75 (a guide on Wine bars in Paris, she is an all around wine afficiando. We asked her to share some of her top tips for tippling in the 19th arrondissement!

And this is what she said....

When the 19eme opens back up, I wanna go...

In the northeast corner of Paris, in an area not too frequented by tourists, a neighborhood exists of residents. People that live and work and go to school in the 19eme of Paris, and it’s kinda cool that way. You have the boats along the Canal de l’Ourcq and the Bassin de la Villette, then the Buttes Chaumont for your jogging and picnic-ing needs, and a few bar a vins in between so you can stop to quench your thirst with a crisp Chablis or a full-bodied Cotes du Rhone. Here are a few places to discover in the 19eme.

Au Comptoir du Canal 14 Quai de la Loire

Step off the metro at Jaures and walk behind the movie theatre MK2 Quai de la Loire to find Au Comptoir du Canal. Unfortunately the canal views are hidden by the movie theater, but the selection of wine by the glass and bottle makes up for it.

Cambuse 43 Quai de la Seine

Walk up the canal a bit and cross the bridge to find Cambuse, a wine shop, cellar and a wine bar. Just off the Bassin de la Villette, with their outdoor seating, you can see the electric boats drive up and down the canal while drinking a bottle of wine. Not sure of what to order, tell the staff what you usually drink and they will guide you in the right direction. They have an amazing planche to pair with your wines as well.

Louisette bar a grignotage 12 bis rue de la Villette

Cool furniture, tropical wallpaper, and excellent snacks...Louisette has you covered! It's the perfect atmosphere for an aperitif. Feels like you’re in your friend’s living room. Then there’s the charcuterie boards and cheese plates meant to be shared, and happy hour, what’s not to love here?! Don’t forget they have brunch on the weekends.

----------------------------

Le Canon d’Achille 76 boulevard de la Villette

Facing the busy Boulevard de la Villette is where you will find this cozy wine bar with it’s blonde wood interiors and generous selection of organic/biodynamic wines. For just a small corkage fee, you can buy a bottle to drink on site (because sometimes a glass just isn’t enough!) and share a plate of oysters (in season) or charcuterie for apero. They have what you need when you need it!

You'll be back to Paris before you know it - so on your explorations, be sure to put these spots on your list!
